    Yes,
You can clone. Make sure you have a recent copy of 4.3.3 CDs so it has all the
    device drivers you will need.
After the mksysb is restored, it will pull all the filesets it needs to complete
    from the CDs.

We have loaded a 610 from an H50 image. Our standard practice though is to load
ALL devices on our machines (lots of filesets but not a lot of space) so it
    rarely ever needs the CDs.

Under 5.2, there is an option during install to "prepare for cloning". All it
does is load all device drivers.

    Subject: clone H70 to p610

I appreciate that this subject has been covered in depth in previous
postings; I've been through the archives and found some good references and
feel that I have a good idea as to how to go about it.

I intend to copy the H70 to the p610 by doing the following:

    * boot the p610 from the 4.3.3 o/s cd
    * restore the mksysb created on the H70 to the 610
    * Once thats all completed ok, recreate all required VG's & LV's and then
    restore all related data manually.

I'd like to ask one question if I may:

The 610 currently has aix 5.2 pre-installed on it. I have heard whisperings
that the 610 will have problems with the restore of the mksysb from the H70.
From what I've read in the archives the general concensus seems to be you
can pretty much clone anything to anything - Can anybody confirm that it
should be ok to restore the H70's mksysb to the p610??

TIA for any replies, they're much appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Barry
