    speaking of sun....has anyone heard the takover rumors? wouldn't it be
    ironic if microsoft bought sun?

    Never underestimate the stupidity of management. :-)

    However, I'd be surprised if it made a significant
    difference. The people with the purse strings care
    about money. They'll see that IBM has loads and SCO
    has none and trust that IBM will take care of things.

    Folks such as ourselves will continue to make
    decisions/recommendations based on technical matters,
    so again: no difference.

    Finally, are Sun safe? IBM claim there's no case to
    answer; they've got an irrevocable licence which SCO
    can't touch. The only difference between that and
    Sun's position is that SCO haven't chosen to sue Sun.
    If they beat IBM who's to say they won't?

    Linux take-up may suffer in the short term, but it
    could benefit eventually if the GPL gets tested in
    court.
