I'm not sure but your rpm does state it's for 5.1 not 5.2.

Is there a 5.2 version available?

Subject: [aix-l] geninstall failure after 5.2 upgrade

    All,

    I recently upgraded my IBM H80 from 4.3.3 to 5.2. I'm
trying to get the AIX-linux toolbox version of lsof to
install, and I'm getting an error. Here's what it
    looks like:

    secm01px root /tmp/steve
    > ls -l
    total 680
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root system 512 Oct 27
    13:11 .
    drwxrwxrwt 6 bin bin 10240 Oct 27
    13:19 ..
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root system 328333 Oct 27
    13:11 lsof-4.61-3.aix5.1.ppc.rpm
    secm01px root /tmp/steve
    > geninstall -d /tmp/steve lsof-4.61-3.aix5.1.ppc.rpm

    Validating RPM package selections ...

    +---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    --+
                              RPM Error Summary:
    +---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    --+
The following errors occurred during installation:
    error: failed dependencies:
            AIX-rpm >= 5.0.0.0 is needed by lsof-4.61-3
            libc.a(shr.o) is needed by lsof-4.61-3

Here's what my rpm output looks like:

    secm01px root /tmp/steve
    > rpm -qa
    cdrecord-1.9-4
    mkisofs-1.13-4

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here?

    Thanks!

    -Stephen Spalding
