Our application vendor finally approved using 5.x for their application, and I need to install Java 1.3.1 on AIX5. I have downloaded the Java.rte.tar and untarred it. I go to install the package through SMIT and I get the following message when I try to list the packages available to install.

Following is the installation directory contents.

    # pwd
    /master/AIX/JAVA
    # ls -l

    -rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 1560 Dec 08 12:06 .toc

I have tried deleting and recreating the .toc. I have tried deleting and allowing smit to create the .toc. Is there a different fileset for Java131 on AIX5 than the one that is used for 4.3.3? Has anyone else seen this problem before?
