I am pretty sure that /usr/lib/boot/ssh has nothing to do with the ssh
(secure shell). /usr/lib/boot/ssh is needed to create a boot image. On
the system that does not have the /usr/lib/boot/ssh file, you should get
an error when running the bosboot command (same error as the mksysb). In
that case, installing the ML should fix the problem, as the system will
update the bos.rte.boot fileset and put the file on the system for you.
In the meantime, I would investigate why the file is not there, as it is
a very important operating system file, and should not be missing.

    Thanks,

I just installed ssh for AIX 5.1 and I've rebooted the server.

I looked at a similar server I have, and there I had the ssh image in
/usr/lib/boot what I did is i copied it to the server that don't had it
because there ssh is working fine.

    Am I doing wrong?

By the way I'm installing ML04 in this server, that's why I was backing
    it up.

    Regards,
    Gustavo.-

/usr/lib/boot/ssh is a small runtime environment that is called during
bootup time, so it is needed to create a bootable mksysb tape. The
bos.rte.boot fileset contains the file, so I would run "lslppp -f
bos.rte.boot " and make sure that all the files listed are actually on
your system. If they are not, then you will need to install them.

PS. Did you install a maintenance level or fixes that require a reboot,
    but have not rebooted yet?

    Thanks,

    Subject: Mksysb failed

    Hi!

I'm doing a mksysb and get this:

                                                           COMMAND STATUS

Command: failed stdout: yes stderr: no

Before command completion, additional instructions may appear below.

Creating information file (/image.data) for rootvg.......

    Creating tape boot image.
0301-154 bosboot: missing proto file: /usr/lib/boot/ssh

0512-016 mksysb: Attempt to create a bootable tape failed:
            bosboot -d /dev/rmt0.1 -a failed with return code 41.

Do you know what can be happening?
