If the file is newly created and modifications done on it did not change
the inode information, you can use istat. Do istat filename and then
look at the Last updated row.

    Subject: File Creation Time

    Hi *,
Can some one let me know if any way to find out the date and time
of a file created for the first time in my filesystem. Now the file is
modified so the time in the ls output will be last modified time, is
there anyway out where i can find out the File Creation date & time
though the file has been modified after creation.

    TIA
    Regards
    Praveen.K
