I think that answer depends on your environment. At one past assignment
there were 3 of use to administer root passwd's for 1,100 + servers. I have
been the lone ranger for 20+ servers and been bored stiff. I presently
manage 7 servers and my day is extremely busy. Present demands mean that I
spend 5 full days on site, in addition 3 hours on Saturday and 2 hours
dialed in on Sunday from home. Extenuating circumstances that should end
soon.
Each environment has it's own requirements.
