Ah thats what I thought, you are limited by the size of your smallest drive.

Why not use 16 X 9.1 or 16 X 36.4s? Another suggestion, does your implementaion allow you to create two RAID10 arrays, one consisting of the 9.1s onlyand the other the 36.4GB Drives, you would get better space utilization at least.

Not sure if its possible to do, but I could see many potential problems of doing it that way since your are mirroring your striped filesystems. In context of just pure mirroring would you mirror a larger drive onto a smaller drive?....well it can be done I guess (from AIX at least) but you would be limiting the effectiveness to the size of your smallest drive.

    Are you considering software/hardware mirroring?

    Guru's,

    A little advise please....

I am setting up a RAID10 config on a H80, there are 8 x 36.4GB SSA disks and 8 x 9.1GB SSA Disks, the question is ..is it OK to use the 36.4 GB disk as the Primary and the 9.1GB Disks as the secondary?

    Thanks
