There is a microcode update on the 6227/6228 that specifically addresses
    SAN booting.

Does anyone know if it is possible to boot a p650 into
maintenance mode from LTO2 drives in an STK silo?

The LTO2 drives are fiber-attached directly to the
p650. However, the tape devices are NOT seen in SMS
mode, and the bootlist command complains when I
attempt to add them to the bootlist.

My contention is that you can't do it. Some of the
other powers-that-be insist that a microcode update on
the p650 will do the trick (although, no one seems to
be able to identify what microcode that is).

    Anyone care to take sides?
