    you should be able to ssh into the HMC and open an X-window from there.
    You'll probably have to tunnel it across SSH - I think I neglected to
    mention that in my previous post - I forgot about that rather IMPORTANT
    detail.

    Where do you do the "xhost +" at? Can't open an xterm on the HMC and fire
    that off. Can't do it in the ascii/text login
    (CTRL-ALT-F1) since you don't have a DISPLAY there.

    I just tried creating an "/etc/X0.hosts" file with a "+" or a specific
    remote system name. Then I rebooted the HMC, but that did not
    take either.

    (Of course I am on a old HMC version/release 3.1.2, so that may be an
    issue?)

    As long as you are not going across the serial - yes.

    Just set the display to <HMC IP ADDRESS:0.0> and run the XTERM on the LPAR.
    You might have to 'xhost', but I've done it.
