    It may or may not be the case, but when the source host is not AIX (esp
    Linux), the following command is necessary on the target:

    nfso -o nfs_use_reserved_ports=1

    NFS fsinfo failed for server server: error 7 (RPC: Authentication error)

Watching the packets go by in ethereal, I can see the mount request make it to the aix box and aix respond with the permission denied...so it something that's happening inside the nfs mount daemon on aix that it doesn't like.... ...
