I ran lsdev -Cc tape on all my LPARs but none of them showed any devices

I did see scsi devices configured on 4 of my LPARs

How do I know which LPAR is holding the drive right now?

    Thanks!

off the top of my head, in a nutshell..the easiest way:

assuming the slot is setup for dlpar(meaning it is not a required slot on an
    LPAR)

    1. remove all child devices (rmt#/scsi#)and the slot(rmdev -dl pci#) on the
host that currently has the slot. lsdev -C|grep 'the location code' will
    help.
    2. on the hmc, right click on the adapter in the lpar, and select dlpar.
    3. remove the slot from the lpar (via the hmc)
    4. add the slot to the next lpar (via the hmc)
    5. run cfgmgr on the lpar that rec'vd the slot
    6. run your mksysb
    7. repeat

if you forgot to remove a child device, step 3 will tell you the device that
    is causing the problem

    Subject: LPAR and tape drive

This may be a bit of an impossible question, but here goes....

I have just been given the task of creating mksysb on each of
    7 LPARs on a p690....

(The guy that usually does this is away)

I have an Ultrium tape drive that is somehow connected to the
    690 via scsi.

I've done this before but my memory is scetchy...

Could someone point me to some documentation on how to
switch the tape device from 1 LPAR to the next?

    Thanks for your help!
