I'm restoring to the same system that the mksysb was created on --
single-drive B50 (yeah, I know). I've tried booting straight from the
tape, as well as off of CD, this happens with more than one mksysb tape
created on this system. I even tried using a bigger disk. All to the
    same end --
I receive an unpacking error and a message that there is not enough
    space to continue.

If I retry with the same tape, I will eventually get the same unpacking
error, but not necessarily at the exact same point in the restore.

The server is 5.1 ML3 with regular JFS filesystems (not even LFE) and a
    simple application installed.

    Pulling my hair out....

For the full restore, are you restoring onto the same system that the
    mksysb
came from, or a different one? If it's a different one, what are the
    two
hardware configurations? Mirrored rootvg - or any part of it?

Are you simply booting from a mksysb tape and letting it install? If
    so,
try booting from CD. This will enable you to check the hardware
configuration and specify which disks to use.

Subject: couple of mksysb restore questions

For some odd reason I find myself needed to restore two different
    servers
from mksysbs for different reasons and am receiving errors on both.
    Both
    servers are 5.1 ML3.

On the second server I am attempting to perform a complete overwrite.
    And
about halfway through the restore I get a message stating that it has
    run
out of room and I have the option to open a maintenance shell to fix the
problem (sorry I don't have the exact message in front of me right now).
None of the filesystems are full and I've tried multiple mksysb tapes,
    all
to the same end. Any ideas on this one?
