    Hi Holger,

    Since it is possible with extendlv, let me know if these steps are correct.
    In fact I have tried increasing the LV and then increase the FS which was
    through.But this machine had only one disk.

    Data

    fs01 current size 5GB
    hdisk1 size 18GB
    Proposed fs01 size 20GB
    Preferable disk for 2GB extra space is hdisk2
    PP Size 32MB

    What I would do is

    * chfs -a size=+27262976 // (13*1024*2048) I Increase the file
    system fs01 by 13GB using chfs which would use the free space on hdisk1. Now
    the size of the file system is 18GB
    * extendlv lv_fs01 64 hdisk2 // 64*32=2048MB=2GB
    * chfs -a size=+4194304 // Increase the file system fs01 by adding
    4194304 (2*1024*2048) to the existing value.

    With the above steps I should have allocated the disk space of 2GB from my
    desired disk(hdisk2).

    Pl correct me if I am wrong.

    TIA
    Praveen.K

    well, it isnt possible with chfs but if you use extendlv you can specify the
    hdisk to be used

    Since the FS fs01 is created on hdisk1 and once I set the inter-alloc policy
    to min, I understand that as long hdisk1 has free space, the file system
    uses the space on hdisk1 only, but if fs01 has to extend beyond hdisk1 then
    you want me to add 1 pp of hdisk2 to the file system fs01 and set upperbound
    to 2. But I dont think while increasing the file system I can specify PP of
    which disk has to be used. If this is possible my problem is solved.

    to tell it to use hdisk1 set inter-alloc. policy to min and upperbound to 1

    to tell it to use hdisk1 set inter-alloc. policy to min and upperbound to 2
    and add 1 pp of hdisk2 to the filesystem

    Hi Andy,

        To put it short,I would like to know the following info.

    I have a FS fs01 of size 5GB on an LV that has been created on hdisk1 which
    is of 18GB. This PV belongs to a vg called dbvg, which has 5 other disks
    which have a lot of free space. Now my question is if I increase the file
    system fs01 to 20GB, from which disk does the system pickup the excess 2GB
    space required for this file system. Is this random or can I make a choice
    saying please pickup only from hdisk2 ?

    I have tried all the below commands except migratepv before putting it in
    the forum, but of no use.

    I hope you have got my requirement.

    TIA
    Praveen

    Hi,

        Sorry, I cannot understand your words, but I do think that the following
    command should be useful:
    df
    lslv -m lvname
    lspv -l lvname
    migratepv
