Assuming the ... at the end of the line is being generated by the program, you
will have to check with the vendor.
For example, the vendor may be checking for a controlling tty and default to 80
if it does not find one.
From your example output, it looks like the vendor is trying to be "helpful".

Here is my dillema
If I issue the command
msgview -search SCP, via terminal input (msgview is a vendor supplied app), I
get the line:
003975 08/31 12:07 aud SCP_StopServer The server Discern Expert
Server (CPM.EKS) entry 175 was stopped by SYSTEM; ...
However if I issue
nohup msgview -search SCP > dave
Or run
msgview -search SCP > dave
Via cron, the line stored in dave is:
003975 08/31 12:07 aud SCP_StopServer The server Discern Exper...
.........Question is how can I get the output redirected to a file, and get the
entire line?
