    Simon,

    Many thanks for your observations. I believe you're right on, we are communicating with a windows application, and its developed by a company that we have to deal with, but who are not known for their extraordinary programming skills.

    :)

    I'll research the two settings you've identified and see if they are relevant to our situation.
