People who validate HACMP with new AIX/hardware tell me that HACMP 5.2 has
not been validated with aix 5.3, and of course micropartitioning is not
supported either, at least not as of today.

Heartbeat over SAN works by two nodes sending heartbeats to each other by
writing to an area of a disk. There is a utility which will verify whether
your connectivity is correct (its name escapes me now, but you can find it
in the documentation, I believe it's part of RSCT), and then it should
    "just work".

Can you tell if hacmp 5.2 is supported on aix 5.3 ?

and if yes, is micro-partitioning also supported?

and do you have experiences with heartbeat over san?

    Ho,
You are right; recent releases went through quite some improvements in all
    areas, including usability, performance, etc.
You probably want to read some documentation first, to become familiar
with the new terminology and the new features available. Just as an
example, you don't configure boot and standby "adapters" anymore, and
service "adapter" configuration happens quite differently as well. With
some of the new features, you may find that some customization you had to
do previously may not be needed anymore, thereby simplifying your
configuration. Or you may decide to utilize fast disk takeover for
performance improvement. This list is just a small sampling of the set
of new features, but you can find a more exhaustive list in the
    documentation.
If you have any specific question, let me know, I can probably answer
    them.

    HACMP 52

We have run HACMP 4.5 on AIX 433 and are planning to implement HACMP 52 on
new LPARs. It was surprised that there are many changes to set up with
version 52. If you have implemented or have any comments on HACMP 52,
    please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.
