Instructions for applying the latest AIX fixes should be available on the
fix download site; perhaps in a README file. Also check the AIX
Installation Guide. Most people tend to stick to Maintenance Level packages
rather than the very latest fixes.
There are tools available which will check for firmware/microcode levels on
all devices and tell you what needs to be updated. I've used Inventory
Scout a couple of times and it seemed quite simple.
