    Hello,

I can't find any list of compatible IBM servers with AIX 5.3.
    Without virtualization (Power5), can i install AIX 5.3 on a 7026-H80 box ?

    Thanks

    Cyril

    - There's a new volume group called the Scalable Volume group.
    - More LVM commands which were shell scripts in the previous releases have
been re-written in C for performance gain.
    - "migratelv" command is introduce.
    - enhancements to KDB
    - Micro partitioning support
    - Power5 Support.
    - Virtual ethernet and lan support on LPARS
    - An AIX user/account name can be more then 8 characters in length.
    - Some things don't require reboots anymore.
    - Fully integrated PAM support for security.
    - NFS 4 - A more secure NFS subsystem.
    - Some new performance tools.
"lvstat" I believe is one of the new performance tools.
    - New BOS installation menus. You have more control at BOS installation
time. Including the option to erase/format the disk
before actually installing the BOS. You can format as if you are in
    diagnostics.
    - During BOS installation you can choose to install all three major user
    environments: "CDE, KDE, GNOME".
    - More support for Linux applications.

It's a pretty nice release. The most intelligent of them to date, I think. I
would wait till at least a few more maintenance levels though.
It's still extremely new, and you never want to be the ginny-pig wheeeeeee.
    Thanks.

I like that 5.3 allows you to decrease filesystems.

    Hello everyone,

Is anyone using AIX 5.3 and if so, how do you like it? My concerns are
    these.
If I am upgrading from AIX 5.1 to AIX 5.2, why not just upgrade to AIX 5.3
    where possible?
Also, One of the admins I work with has voiced concerns that it may not be
"ready" yet. Basically he wants to avoid being an early adopter and facing
issues that have not yet been worked out of the newer OS.

    Thank you all in advance,

    Andrew
