I resolved the problem last night.
As it turns out, the SCSI ID of the SCSI adapter was set to "5" (The server
used to share a tape drive with another server, so one of the adapters had
to be changed from its' default of "7"). By coincidence, the Shark LUNS
were coming in at SCSI ID 5 as well. You can imagine what happens when
there are duplicate SCSI IDs.
Thanks for all of your thoughts.

Hi Bill
Sorry Bill, it may be just a stupid question but did somebody Flash the
devices in your ess(7 Pathes=6copys)and did you allow your host to see all
these copys ?
Than you would see all devices with same PVID towards the same path 7
times.

I upgraded to the 5.2 SDD and I applied ML4 and I am still seeing the
hdisks duplicated. I'll probably ring IBM support next.
Thanks everyone.
Bill.

I've done this several times with AIX and windows. Without the SDD on
there
you see the disk through each path the ESS uses ( in my case 4 sets of
disks). As soon as you put the SDD on it all looks normal again. You can
check the paths through smitty - devices - MPIO management. If you need
the
SDD software I have versions for 4.3.3 to 5.2.

When I run cfgmgr, they come in multiple times. This is the result of a
single 'cfgmgr'.

My first thought would be a need to do an odm cleanup. I have to cleanup my
odm occasionally as I use hdiskpowers(EMC) drives.

These are in fact all the same physical drives. But they're repeated.
