From a cursory glance, your machine is CPU bound and hence the long
login times. This is a short sample; but it looks like you are working
the machine. At times you have 8/9 processes in the run queue with 2 in
the wait queue. How many processors does this machine have ?
Memory and I/O wait looks good; but user CPU is REALLY high...

What is your average CPU utilization -> NMON, TOPAS, top, vmstat... If
your CPU idle is down in the low teens like that then I can see what it
is slow to log in.
Wow, is 7% more unique or the average idle ?

Sometimes this box does not respond after I enter my user profile and
other times I enter my password and it is slow to get to a shell prompt.
Yeah, okay sometimes this box does drop to 7% idle, hmm.
Doing a nslookup on the 2 IP addresses in my /etc/resolv.conf checks
good.

A little more information...
When you say that you get your user profile then 30 seconds later you
get your password prompt; are you saying that you get a herald and
login: then 30 seconds later you get password: ?
If that is the case, what is the CPU utilization on this machine ?
BTW, using the IP address vs. the name only checks the resolution from
the client; not the reverse resolution the server is doing. Are you
nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf reachable ( unless the answer to the
first question is yes ).

AIX 4.3.3.11 not in a DMZ.
When I telnet or Ssh into this box, I key in my user profile and after
30 seconds, I am prompted for my password. This is not a DNS problem,
because it is slow when using the IP address too. Of course, my Oracle
Application is slow too.
Nothing in /var/adm/syslog, alog -t console or errpt.
I do see in nmon, my real memory is at 99%; even though my maxperm is
set to 60. This box is not paging as that value is at 97% free.
Any thoughts that might point me to a fix would be appreciated? TIA.
