As I mentioned on my previos email, I was on the worst case scenario
which I had to recreate the RAID config.

I emphasize on always DOCUMENT and save your original system
configuration, including your RAID configuration. It was a life saver
    for me on this case.

Here is how I was able to recover from this problem.

Using the RAID Manager Menu - smit ibmscraid , I deleted the DEAD disk
    array.

Using my original documented RAID configuration, from the SMIT RAID menu
I created a new disk array on the original RAID adapter. It is important
that you use the same parameters as your original RAID configuration or
it may not work. A new HDISK was created which had the same hdisk name
    as the original one.

From the command prompt, I issued a varyonvg on the volume group which
contained the hdisk. Then mounted the filesystems, and VOILA! All my
data came up without any corruptions....

I hope this helps someone in the future.

    Guys,

I found the solution to this problem. It worked. I will let you know
    once done.

There is an option to read the config from the disks, but if you already
accepted the other config the RAID adapter probably wrote the new config
    to
    the disks...

Subject: RAID-5 Configuration on 2104 disk subsystem

    Hello everyone,

Does anyone how to recover a lost RAID5 configuration?

Let me explain my problem, I have 2 PCI 4-channel Ultra-3 SCSI RAID
    Adapters connected to a 2104-DU3 disk subsystem ( dual-bus mode ). One
    of
the RAID adapters failed. The failed card was replaced but I
    cross-connected
the cable inadvertently. The system complained about changed
    configuration
and I somehow accepted the change ( duh! ).

I now have the correct cable connections but I now can not recover the
    disks
because they are detected as DEAD. I tried to recover the failed disks
    but
it failed everytime. I eventually had to remove the failed array from
    the
configuration. BUT does the 2104 disk subsystem save the configuration
somewhere else? I am now on a worst case scenarion, I'd hate to
    re-create
    the array again...

    Let me know.
