    I am not sure what you are saying. How much space is constrained ? As
    said before you can set syslog up to ONLY report mail information,
    rotate, truncate, send to a remote syslog server, and/or put in a
    location that has space. I have a syslog file from a long running system
    and it is only 56MB. In todays world of GB disks, how little space can
    you afford ?

            Syslog can be used if the same has been configured for any
    location to have logs in syslog.conf file in etc directory. But the same
    is not running in my production environment because of shortage of
