The error message you get says to read /usr/lpp/bos.sysmgt/README. Well,
read it carefully. It explains exactly what you need to do.
Removing filesets is NOT what you want to do if you might be restoring
at an alternate Disaster Recovery Site someday, onto who-knows-what
exact hardware model.
We have chosen the option to create boot CDs, which we keep with the
mksysb tapes in the offsite vault etc. This is Solution 1 in
/usr/lpp/bos.sysmgt/README. You can use original installation CDs for
this UNTIL you apply a Maintenance Level. Our 5.2 install CDs are at
ML0, and we are now running ML4. So in accordance with the warning in
/usr/lpp/bos.sysmgt/README I made new boot CDs. The version of the
command which makes the image which can be transferred worked flawlessly
- I moved the resulting image to a Windows box with a CD burner and
burned a good AIX boot CD using the usual Roxio burning software. (mkcd
calls mkisofs, which if you don't have you'll need to get from online or
from the Linux Toolbox CD.)
