The way I used to do it to avoid duplicate IP on the network. Is changing
old server IP to a new TEMP IP. Then change the new server IP to the OLD IP.
At the end you can either leave the old server on the TEMP IP or change it
to the NEW IP.
You can do this through 'smit tcpip'. Make sure to bring down your interface
(en0 or en?) before the IP change, Then change the IP address and bring up
the interface.

We are currently going through an upgrade process on one of our
applications. It will be necessary for me to flip the ip addresses on the
old system to the new system and vise versa. What is the correct procedure
to manage this? I will be able to shut one down and then the other during
the change process.
