You seem to be unfamiliar with the SP Switch.

The Switch and Switch adapters are usually controlled from the Control
Workstation. You should NOT normally use commands like ifconfig on the
    node.

If everything is properly configured, the way to activate the Switch on a
particular node is with the Eunfence command. If it's a newly installed
node, you might need to use the Estart command.
    e.g.
    Eunfence <node_number>
    Estart (no parameters required)
DON'T run any other "E" commands unless you know what you're doing.

The next thing to do is to read up on the switch in the PSSP Installation
Guide and the Admin Guide. You might also like to take a look at the "PSSP
Version 3 Survival Guide", which you can find on the Redbooks site.

If things still don't make sense you could come back here but we'll need
more information. Output from these commands might give us some clues.
