    The strange thing was that prior to the system crash I had killed the LVs
    and removed the volume group, and then rmdev'd the hdisk. I got lazy
    though and didn't delete the logical drive on the SAN, so when the crash
    happened, and the system came back up, the hdisk returned. I've no idea
    how the volume group came back. I was thinking that maybe I simply
    removed the hdisk and forgot to delete the volume group, but that doesn't
    seem possible.
