John-
You need to run:
/usr/sbin/pprootdev fix
Right now, I'm pretty sure your system shows:
lsvg -p rootvg
hdiskpower0
Can you run:
powermt display dev=hdiskpower0
Should return output like:
Pseudo name=hdiskpower0
Symmetrix ID=000185704866
Logical device ID=00A7
state=alive; policy=SymmOpt; priority=0; queued-IOs=0

======
1 fscsi1 hdisk15 FA 13bA active alive 0
0
0 fscsi0 hdisk3 FA 4bA active alive 0
0
Run:
pprootdev fix
this will run bosboot- and tell you powerpath boot is
still enabled for next boot
lsvg -p rootvg
should show an hdisk and not an hdiskpower device at
that point
** note- rootvg is still protected with failover if you
have multiple HBAs configured
lspv | grep rootvg
should show rootvg on multiple hdiskXX devices now
bosboot commands will now work
bootlist -om normal hdiskXX hdiskYY
(add the underlying hdisks making up the power device to your
bootlist- hdisk15 and 3 in my case)
add pprootdev fix to a startup script so it is run each time the
system reboots.
thanks,
pablo

To get around a similar problem once, not related to EMC though, I deleted the /dev/ipldevice and recreated it as a hard link to the device I wanted to use as the boot device. Jason de la Fuente >>> jriorda2@CSC.COM 02/23/05 01:10PM >>> Hello, I have an lpar that is attached to the san. For reasons that I could not control we have all the volume groups coming from the SAN. So, rootvg is also on the san. One problem I keep having is when I try to load updates the updates fail with " 0503-409 bosboot verification starting... " 0503-497 An error occurred during bosboot verification processing. I think I know why as powerpath renames "hdisk0" to hdiskpower0. When I try to run bosboot -a it fails at if can't find /dev/hdisk0 hd5. I thought you could run "powermt" with a switch to get the system to recognize hdiskpower0 as the boot device. Anyone heard of this?
