How are you moving to that tape position?
Use this command:
# mt rewind <-- it defaults to rmt0, if that is your target tape drive.
# tapeutil -f /dev/rmt0.1 fsf 3
If that doesn't work try position 4. If that doesn't work go into smitty
to verify a system backup and see
if it can even read the tapeasa mksysb tape?.
Thanks.

mksysb: restore specific files
Hi all.
I am trying to restore specific files from a mksysb
from a 4.3.3 box. I found on the internet that you
could do this using the following:
tctl fsf 3 # move the tape to the data section
restore -xvf /dev/rmt0 /home # restore the files.
However, i am getting an error that the volume is not
in "backup" format. I thought that version 4 started
using "backup" instead of "tar". Am I missing
something?
