    Error: "553" = IPL Phase 1 failed. The following is what happens on IPL
    phase 1:

    Phase 1 is:

    ODM copy from disk to RAM.
    cfgmgr 1
    bootinfo -b

    Check those components.

    43p-140 - 553 Errors on Front LED

    I have a 43p-140 with AIX 4.3.3 on it. The CPU fan was making a bunch of
    noise and the power supply fan on the tape drive was making noise as well.
     I took the box apart, replaced the fans and now the system will not boot
    -- giving a 553 error on the front panel LED.

    I have double checked all of the cables and whatnot. The box has two SCSI
    drives and both of them spin up.

    Would anyone mind giving me a hand with things to troubleshoot?
