    Hi,

We have used the FastT products in several locations (we have 3 DS4400's
now). The platforms include AIX and Windows 2000/2003. We use IBM
Wintel servers too, so the installation of HBA drivers, etc there is
utterly painless. I have been less than impressed at times with the way
that AIX handles the failover aspects of the SAN (specifically using SAN
based rootvg volumes), but I think that most of my gripes apply to any
    product that uses multi-path failover.

One of the major uses for our FastT's has been TSM (Tivoli Storage
Manager). We regularly pump 1.5TB daily through its disk pools. I have
seen sustain transfers of 85MB/s from the system (this was limited by
our Gigabit nic through a gigaman connection, so ymmv).

I have not used the EMC products. Their software for management seems
to be pretty good. I seriously doubt that you would have show stopping
    problems with either.

We are in the process of selecting our first SAN for our environment -
approximately 10 AIX servers and 3 Windows servers. We've narrowed our
choices down to either an IBM DS4300 Turbo (old FastT) or the EMC
    CLARiion
CX500. For those of you who may have worked with either (or both) of
    these
products, what is your overall opinion of the product? Would you buy
    that
product again? Any positive or negative comments would be greatly
    appreciated. Thanks.
