Simon,
Our problem is running out of space in the /var filesystem. Several
time we have ran out of space when users have many print jobs in the
queue and the /var/tmp directory takes the rest when more print jobs are
done. Also, the wtmp file grows and takes up alot of space. We want to
control the situation and was wondering if any othert users had the same
issue and what they did!

The solution depends on the cause of the problem. Do you know what
particular file(s) are taking up the space?
You can create additional filesystems under /var. Depending on what
they are you may have to put them in rootvg, so that they're available
immediately at boot. I would want to know exactly what was causing the
problem first, though: better to avoid creating extra filesystems and
making things more complicated.

Can the /var/tmp be redirected or mounted on its on filesystem? Once we removed the wtmp file to save space but we don't want to do that all the time.
