Do a "restore -Tvf" to see if it's actually was writing data to that cdrom
device. Also you can run "date" on the system
during the time it's running and seems to be paused, then compare that
time to the time you get from "ls -l /dev/cdX", or
whatever that device special Unix file is. That should tell you the last
time it was written. That will give you a good indication
of whether it's dead or not. Also, try making a mksysb to disk or tape and
see if it pauses with those methods as well. Lastly,
    check the: "errpt" for anything.
    Thanks.

    mksysb dvd

    Hi,
I am doing a mksysb to DVD, all goes well, to a point, it starts to copy
    the files to the DVD:

    cmd: mkcd -U -d /dev/cd0 -M /opt/mksysb
    Initializing mkcd log: /var/adm/ras/mkcd.log...
    Verifying command parameters...
    Creating image.data file...
    Creating mksysb image...
Populating the CD or DVD file system...
Copying backup to the CD or DVD file system...

Then that’s it, it seems to continually copy the files without finishing,
I killed it after it had been running for 5 hours copying the files to
    DVD.

    Any idea’s.

    Thanks
    David
