Usually, I just use the basic ones.
"-n" if I'm feeling conscientious and want to check what's going on. Also,
of course, if I suspect a problem.
    "-p" usually for problems.
"-y" if there are lots of errors. Actually, I increasingly use this rather
than -p because I always answer "yes" anyway.

Usually I run it on one filesystem at a time. If I've got a lot of data to
check - like a major SAP system crashing, leaving a TB or so of corrupted
filesystems - I do multiple filesystems in parallel. It seems to work quite
well, but I found it a bit difficult to keep track of exactly what was going
on. Best to just give it the -y flag and let it get on with things. When I
do this, I specify a list of filesystems - not a group - and make sure that
they're not sharing the same disks. So I end up doing two or three batches
    of fscks.

I've never had occasion to use the more obscure flags, (-i, -d etc).

    Excellent explanation Simon.
One question for clarification. What are the most common flags you normally
    run with fsck?
