    Yes; assuming that hdisk1 is one of the disks that makes up uservg.

    If you're unsure, you can always do the importvg, then take a look at the
    contents and if it's not what you're expecting do an exportvg and try again
    with a different disk.

    It's quite valuable to save information on your VG configuration regularly,
    for just this sort of occurance.

    My reference to "don't call it rootvg", was assuming you still had access to
    the original hdisk1, which was part of the old rootvg, and wanted to access
    some data on there. Perhaps I misunderstood what you wanted to do.

    I would recommend that you download copies of the IBM Redbook "LVM A to Z",
    (two volumes). There's quite a lot of useful stuff in them. URL is in my
    sig.
