Thanks for the reply, it worked:

Service Processor Firmware => 2. System Power Control Menu => 7. Boot Mode
    Menu =>

                    Boot Mode Menu

          1. Boot to SMS Menu:
                Currently Disabled

    [...]

System boots straight to the OS now.

    Thanks again,
    Christian

There is a setting in there to boot off of the default boot list and not
into SMS. You need to change it back after you hit F5.

Subject: system automatically entering sms menues

    Dear List,

after installing an mksysb on an p610 with AIX 5.2 ML 5 I have the problem
that the system enters the SMS menu after rebooting. OS is installed on 2
internal SCSI-hdds and the bootlist contains only these disks as 1st and
second bootdevices. If I exit SMS menues without changing anything the
System boots from these harddisks without any errors. How can I make the
system boot straight from the disks without entering SMS?

    TIA
    Christian
