I'm not familiar with RAW/Oracle RAC, but the downside of GPFS is that
it's not really a high availability file system. There's only one
heartbeat path (if your network goes down/has to be taken down you'll
loose connection to the file system), and when you need to upgrade
GPFS you often have to unmount it on all nodes before doing the
upgrade, even for minor releases.
It's still a great file system for other uses though.
