Importvg will take care of most things for you. It's worth checking in
advance that you don't have any duplicate LV or filesystem names and change
them on the S80 before your varyoffvg.

You need to make sure that the appropriate SSA device filesets are installed
on the 570. You could either install them in advance, or you can load the
SSA drivers CD - or the AIX Install CD - when you run cfgmgr. If you do
that then you'll need to update them to your current maintenance level.

    Subject: move ssa
    All,
I'm planning to move 2 7133 SSA drawers and 4 adapters from our S80 to the
newer p5 570. Any gotchas to look out for? Here's my gameplan:
    varyoffvg and exportvg the vg's
shutdown both systems (just to be safe)
physically move adapters from s80 to 570
    recable the same
    cfgmgr
    importvg, varyonvg
    mount
How does importvg handle lv names and fs names. will it create
/etc/filesystems stanza's automatically? thanks for any info.
