    The last time I needed to do that I settled for simply powering off the
    server. That's a good simulation of a total hardware failure. I think that
    trying to fake a system crash is unnecessary for HACMP testing: what does it
    care why the system has stopped?

    Sorry I wasn't very clear, I want to make the OS suddenly stop, like a halt
    -q but in a less pleasant and organised fashion.  It's part of a test on an
    HACMP installation.
