I would install both the client and server software for TSM on the TSM
server. This will give you full command line access.

On the TSM client, only install the TSM client software.

On the clients you only need the TSM client software. On the server you
only need the TSM server software. But usually the TSM server machine is
also a TSM client (maybe to itself or to another server) and thus the
    client
    is loaded there also.

I am very new to TSM I have v5.2 client and AIX 5.3 on a P570, the dumb
question I have is do I need the server software to run the client or can I
just load the client and be able to run? Also If I only have one server
running the TSM server software do I need to load the client on the same
    box?
    TIA,
    Vince
