uuencode email attachments

    i am attempting to add attachments to mail and send them

    I am doing this:

    uuencode binaryfile binaryfile.txt |mailx -s "test" myaddress@mymail.com </dev/null

    the mail is sent(and received) , but there is no attachment.

    my mail administrator tells me that his mail server is not stripping off the attachment

    this aix 5.2 ml5

    there is nothing in var/spool/mqueue
