It does not use a KVM ... it uses a monitor, keyboard/mouse
(touchpad/button), since it is a graphical interface. No KVM, though it
could use it I suppose, and its monitor/keyboard/etc.
The connections are via private LAN (literally a switch or hub
connected to the different systems and the HMC), rather than the old P4
serial connections. Serial ports on the target system are still
unavailable, however. Don't get that, but whatever.

Need your help,
I would like to start using an HMC to manage my P5 servers, with the
lastest code we can connect up to 48 servers non-P590/P595.
The question I have is that I see that it uses a KVM switch and can't
figure out why it needs one? I read though the redbook (alittle out of
date) but it doesn't talk about the KVM.
Anyone using an HMC for P5 can shed some light on this that would be
great.
Thanks in advance,
Vince
