IMPLEMENTATION:

verify aix_disk_install completion

start:

1) shutdown application/database
2) comment out of startup (/etc/inittab)
3) umount filesystems on EMCdisk VGs
4) set volume group to not vary online at boot up.
5) varyoff EMCdisk VGs
6) remove powerpath devices (rmdev -d -l {diskname})
7) remove EMC drivers and powerpath software
7a)remove:
  ECC.MAGENT 5.1.0.0 C F EMC SOFTWARE
  EMCpower.base 3.0.4.0 C F PowerPath Base Driver
and
  EMCpower.consistency_grp 3.0.4.0 C F PowerPath Consistency
Group
  EMCpower.multi_path 3.0.4.0 C F PowerPath Multi_Pathing
  EMCpower.multi_path_clariion
  Symmetrix.aix.rte 5.0.0.0 C F EMC Symmetrix AIX
Support
  Symmetrix.fcp.rte 5.0.0.0 C F EMC Symmetrix Fibre
Channel

8) startup upgrade:

8a)reboot server from install AIX 5.2 CD's (bootlist -o -m normal
{display} bootlist -m normal <device> {change})
 - select install software, with migration option
 - swap CD's as appropriate and hit enter as requested by the install
 - reboot

9) apply latest ML upgrades from clcia006.cldc.chrysler.com:/ptfs
- aix5200-ML01
- aix5200-ML02
- aix5200-ML03
- aix5200-ML04
- reboot

10) Install latest EMC Powerpath 4.3 and Symmetrix 5.2 software:

10a) mount disk remotely and use smit to install
- shibmts2.shdc.chrysler.com::/ptfs/EMC/odm_definitions/ODM.5.2
- shibmts2.shdc.chrysler.com::/ptfs/EMC/powerpath/EMCpower.AIX.4.3
- replace rc.emcpower script in /etc (located in ...EMCpower.AIX.4.3)
- powermt check_registration (verify we have a valid license, if not we
need to add one)
- emcpreg -add B3P3-HB43-CFMR-Q2A6-MX9V-O9P3

11) reboot
12) varyonvg EMC VGs
13) set vg to varyon at boot-up
14) mount EMC VG filesystems
15) uncomment applicaiton/database startups in /etc/inittab
16) reboot

VERIFICATION:

oslevel command will report 5.2
powermt display to verify EMC VGs are available
review error report
