Different FRU's it would appear. I am up to 3072MB now.
Just trying to see if I can get another 512MB out of it before I get it exchanged.
Thanks to the list again for giving me some pointers.

Also, see if you can see them from the service processor menus. They could be in error and have been disabled. You'll have to re-enable
them again via the SP. Also, even if you have the same type of hardware, (same FRU), let's go back to hardware 101, you need to install
them methodically...
Thanks.

Re: Memory added but not all being recognized
Are all memory sticks the same FRU #? There are issues with certain part #'s that do not work with others. I wish I could give you more specifics but I cannot find my little cheat *** that specifies each of the subtle differences.

size and goodsize match. Yes only one memory card which supports 16 DIMM's.
I did look at the DIMMs initially and they do all appear to have IBM logo's on them not sure if there is any subtle differences or not but I may have to look a little closer and try 1Gb at a time as you suggest.

On the output of 'lattr -El mem0', does size and goodsize match ?
I assume all your DIMMS are on the first card which supports 16 DIMMS ?
Are the new DIMMS the same as the old (from IBM)? Try testing 1GB at a time to see if any problems with certain DIMMS.

Subject: Memory added but not all being recognized
I have a 44P-270 with 1GB of ram. It had 4 - 246MB DIMMS (IBM PN 4019).
I added another 12 - 256 MB DIMMS to bring it up to 4096MB.
After powering it up it now only recognizes 2048MB so I'm 2GB short.
(Boot screen shows 2048MB and lsattr -El mem0 also just shows 2048).
I've pulled out the memory card and reseated the memory DIMM's I just added.
Same result.
Am I missing anything here that will stop the server from recognizing the extra memory?
This is AIX 4.3.3 if that makes a difference.
Mark
