We have a 7248-133 in our office which was running AIX 4.3.3 for a couple of
years. We recently migrated it to AIX 5.1 ML08 as we want to use it as a
temporary host for some security software whilst we upgrade other servers.

Since the migration it's proved unstable. After a while it stops
responding. It can last up to three hours according to my colleague,
although I only got 15 minutes out of it earlier this afternoon.

There's nothing of obvious significance in the error log: a few references
to ctcasd stopping and starting when the system is booted is all. It's a
bit tight on space, but the filesystems don't appear to be full. It's got a
dump device which is a bit on the small side but it's not attempting to take
a dump. Paging space is also a bit limited, but it doesn't appear to be the
problem: my colleague monitored it for a while and there was no evidence of
    it filling up.

There are no applications on this machine. We normally just use it for
loading software to remote servers (using NFS) and a bit of testing.

Has anybody else got a 43P-133 (or similar) running AIX 5.1?
    Anybody had similar problems?

Any recommendations on where I can look for more information on what's going
on, or other ways of helping to diagnose the problem? It's not a production
system so it's not a high priority but I'd like to get it working and I'm
stuck at the moment, not too sure how best to proceed.
