booting and fiber disks

We had some problems booting from cd0 on a box that
has a fiber connection to an EMC box.

Even though the bootlist only contains cd0, it will still search
every single fibre attached diskin order to boot

Is there a way around this?

(We also disconnected the fiber and the boot just hung)

Thanks!
