The normal diagnostic tools will suffice.
For the rootvg the server would have to be booted from CD, (or equivalent).

But yes: it's been discussed many times and all the answers can be found by
searching the list archives. (I think the links in my sig are out of date,
but they're not too hard to find.)

I think we need to setup a FAQ for this list ! :-)

I think the concencus is that if there is sensitive data you pretty much
have to phisicaly destroy the media, otherwise use something like shred
from GNU fileutils.
