Look into Unix command: "uuencode". This will allow you to send attachment
email messages with the regular/standard Unix mail utility/command.

in order to attach a file
I am using mutt (recompiled for aix)
and
mutt -a myfile.txt mydest@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
