Re: Highest AIX on a Model 150

I took this statement to mean that all TL of AIX5.3 support 32-bit but
releases after 5.3 (i.e. 5.4) would not support 32-bit.

Here is the reference letter:

oulder.ibm.com/common/ssi/rep_ca/7/897/ENUSC06-007/../../../6/897/ENUS20
6-026/index.html&InfoType=AN

Statement of direction

Withdrawal of support for 32-bit kernel in AIX

Future releases of AIX following AIX 5L V5.3 will only support the
64-bit kernel. The 64-bit kernel in these future releases will continue
to support 32-bit applications, but will not support 32-bit kernel
extensions or device drivers.

I thought I recall reading a statement of direction that 5.4 will only
support 64-bit machines. So 170 will support 5.4 but 150 will end at
5.3. I know I have encountered current IBM products like MQ that will
only run on 64-bit hardware so it makes sense that IBM is stating that
direction. I have 5300-04-01 installed on both models at this time.

I will try and find the reference letter.

What is the highest level of AIX 5L you can install and run on an
RS/6000 Model 150?

What about a 43P-170?
