what does /etc/filesystems say for:
/
/usr
/var

I assume they are using the jfs2log.

they use hd8 which has the type "jfs" (not: "jfslog") in lslv hd8

and what is in the type field for
lslv lvname

jfs

was this an upgrade or a fresh install?

fresh install

you can change the type with chlv -t jfs2 lvname
yes, but does this get me further? I still dont really know what fs-type
I have

Subject: difference in lsfs and lsvg

Hello,

lsfs shows the filesystems of rootvg as jfs2. I am also quite sure I
created them as jfs2.

However, lsvg -l rootvg shows jfs and (f.e.) lslv hd4 also shows jfs.

Already tried redefinevg and synclvodm, no effect.

It looks like the fs are really jfs2 as I can decrease them:

(0)root@sbe18956 539# chfs -a size=+1 /root Filesystem size changed to
524288
(0)root@sbe18956 540# df -k /root
Filesystem 1024-blocks Free %Used Iused %Iused Mounted on
/dev/rootlv 262144 167084 37% 55 1% /root
(0)root@sbe18956 541# chfs -a size=-1 /root Minimum size to be reduced
is 1 physical partition (128 MB).
(0)root@sbe18956 542# chfs -a size=-128M /root Filesystem size changed
to 262144
(0)root@sbe18956 543# df -k /root
Filesystem 1024-blocks Free %Used Iused %Iused Mounted on
/dev/rootlv 131072 36032 73% 55 1% /root
(0)root@sbe18956 544# lslv rootlv
LOGICAL VOLUME: rootlv VOLUME GROUP: rootvg
LV IDENTIFIER: 00ced89d00004c0000000103c425d7f9.11 PERMISSION:
read/write
VG STATE: active/complete LV STATE: opened/syncd
TYPE: jfs WRITE VERIFY: off
...

I am a bit confused about the error-msg "Minimum size to be reduced is 1
physical partition (128 MB).", but this is not the problem here...

Am I correct that one cannot decrease a jfs-filesystem, so, I have
jfs2-filesystems?
How could I fix the output of lsvg and lslv (showing jfs as fs-type).

Btw. there are jfs2-fs in rootvg... all that I added manually after
installing. But / /var /tmp /usr etc. show up as jfs.
There is not even a jfslog... only a jfs2log.

Regards, Holger
